Description:

The Children’s Hospital of Orange County, California has been providing specialized, family-centered pediatric medical care for the region’s children for over 45 years. Today, this 238 bed hospital annually serves 7,500 patients and another 100,000 in their clinics located throughout the region. This leading children’s hospital includes four centers of excellence – The CHOC Children’s Heart, Cancer, Neuroscience and Orthopedic Institutes - with experienced and skilled pediatricians who offer state-of-the-art care resulting in the best possible outcomes for their patients. The hospital includes 54 NICU beds with a two bed ECMO unit, 30 PICU beds and 12 CVICU beds where 250 newborn and pediatric open-heart surgical patients are treated every year.

“CHOC” has recently been the recipient of a $27 million gift from Mr. Bill Holmes, a retired California businessman. His generous gift will go toward the new 425,000 square foot tower under construction that will be named “The Bill Holmes Tower.” Scheduled for completion in March of 2013, it will include additional hospital beds and space for future growth, a 22,000 square foot Emergency Center with 31 treatment rooms, 14 rapid medical exam rooms and three triage suites. "CHOC" is affiliated with the UC/Irvine School of Medicine for care, research and teaching programs, and its residency program is one of the busiest in the region.

This leading pediatric healthcare center has been recognized for excellence by many organizations. It is nationally ranked in five pediatric specialties by U.S. News and Report’s “Best Children’s Hospitals” for 2012-2013. In addition, it has received Magnet recognition for nursing excellence, and is one of ten children’s hospitals in the nation to be recognized by the Leapfrog Group for patient safety. It has received the Silver Level CAPE Award for performance excellence and was recently awarded the Gold Level Beacon Award for critical care excellence. With their mission of nurturing, advancing and protecting the health and well-being of children, CHOC is preparing for the challenges and opportunities of pediatric healthcare going forward.

The young patients at CHOC are able to experience the in-house radio studio, “Radio Lollipop,” offering opportunities for them to be “on-the-air” and meet exciting guest personalities who drop by to visit from time to time. Consistently being voted a great place to work, CHOC offers employees many opportunities for personal growth and fulfillment along with a comprehensive salary and benefits program. This is an ideal place to work and live, located in Southern California’s sunny climate and just a few minutes or hours away from the beach, mountains or desert for year ‘round outdoor sports and activities.
